Disable interrupts for power-off, like other platforms do. This prevents
meaningless warnings from the soft-lockup detector on models with a power

Testing shows that the CUDA_POWERDOWN command never completes (for a
Centris 660av or LC 475, at least). So, don't wait for command completion
on those Cuda-based models that do not support soft power. Just proceed to
log the usual message, "It is now safe to turn off your Macintosh."

We are going to split <linux/sched/debug.h> out of <linux/sched.h>, which
will have to be picked up from other headers and a couple of .c files.
Create a trivial placeholder <linux/sched/debug.h> file that just
maps to <linux/sched.h> to make this patch obviously correct and
bisectable.
Include the new header in the files that are going to need it.

Mac interrupt code has been debugged. The Penguin deficiencies that

In macints.c there is some startup code which disables the SONIC interrupt
in an attempt to avoid an unhandled slot interrupt, which would be fatal.
This only works on those machines where the SONIC device is on-board.
When the mac_sonic driver is built-in, there's little point in doing this,
because the device will be initialized a few seconds later anyway. But
when mac_sonic is a module, the window for an unhandled interrupt is
longer.
Either way, we've already run the gauntlet for 5 or 10 seconds by the time
we get around to disabling this particular device. It's only by sheer luck
that we got this far.
Really, this is too little too late. The general problem of unhandled
early interrupts also affects other devices on other models. There are
better ways to resolve this problem.
1) When using the Penguin bootloader, boot Mac OS with extensions disabled
(by holding down the shift key at startup or by use of the Extensions
Manager control panel). The Penguin docs already contain this advice,
as it is always effective.
2) Have the Penguin bootloader disable the device. It already attempts
to disable slot interrupts. But since some hardware cannot mask slot
interrupts, Penguin should probably close the relevant device
drivers.
3) Use Emile instead of Penguin. AFAIK the boot ROM never enables network
device interrupts and hence they don't need to be disabled.
Remove this hack. It requires maintenance and it doesn't solve the
problem. It improves the odds for a few models, but so does setting
CONFIG_MAC_SONIC=y.

Give mac_early_print() a new string length parameter to fit the early console API.
Send output to the framebuffer as well as serial ports.
Change the line rate to 38400 baud to match the default for the real (pmac_zilog) serial console.

The algorithm described in the comment compares two reads from the RTC but
the code actually reads once and compares the result to an uninitialized
value. This causes the compiler to warn, "last_result maybe used
uninitialized". Make the code match the comment, fix the warning and
perhaps improve reliability. Tested on a Quadra 700.

percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.
percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.
http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py
The script does the followings.
* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.
* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
doesn't seem to be any matching order.
* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
file.
The conversion was done in the following steps.
1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
files.
2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
inclusions to around 150 files.
3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.
4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.
5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
necessary.
6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.
7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).
* x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
* powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
* sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
* ia64 SMP allmodconfig
* s390 SMP allmodconfig
* alpha SMP allmodconfig
* um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig
8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
a separate patch and serve as bisection point.
Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

No-one seems to know how to mask individual baboon interrupts, so we just
mask the umbrella IRQ. This will work as long as only the IDE driver uses
the baboon chip (it can't deadlock). Use mac_enable_irq/mac_disable_irq
rather than enable_irq/disable_irq because the latter routines count the
depth of nested calls which triggers a warning and call trace because
IRQ_NUBUS_C is enabled twice in a row (once when the baboon handler is
registered, and once when the IDE IRQ is registered).

Some Macs lack a slot interrupt enable register. So the existing code makes
disabled and unregistered slot IRQ lines outputs set high. This seems to work
on quadras, but does not work on genuine VIAs (perhaps the card still succeeds
in pulling the line low, or perhaps because this increases the settle time on
the port A input, meaning that the CA1 IRQ could fire before the slot line
reads active).
Because of this, the nubus_active flags were used to mask IRQs, which is
actually worse than the problem it tries to solve. Any interrupt masked by
nubus_active will remain asserted and prevent further transitions on CA1. And
so the nubus gets wedged regardless of hardware (emulated VIA ASIC, real VIA
chip or RBV).
The best solution to this hardware limitation of genuine VIAs is to disable the
umbrella SLOTS IRQ when disabling a slot on those machines. Unfortunately, this
means all slot IRQs get disabled when any slot IRQ is disabled. But it is only
a problem when there's more than 1 device using nubus interrupts.
Another potential problem for genuine VIAs is an unregistered nubus IRQ.
Eventually it will be possible to enable the CA1 interrupt by installing its
handler only _after_ all nubus drivers have loaded but _before_ the kernel
needs them, at which time this last problem can be fixed. For now it can be
worked around:
- disable MacOS extensions
- don't boot MacOS (use the Emile bootloader instead)
- get the bootloaders to disable ROM drivers (Penguin does this for video
cards already, don't know about Emile)
- physically remove unsupported cards

Make sure that there are no slot IRQs asserted before leaving the nubus
handler. If there are and we don't then the nubus gets wedged because this
prevents a CA1 transition, which means no more nubus IRQs.
Make the interrupt dispatch loops terminate sooner.
Explicitly initialise the VIA latches to make the code more easily understood.
