ab0085bd79 xsk: Honor SO_BINDTODEVICE on bind
[ Upstream commit f7306acec9aae9893d15e745c8791124d42ab10a ]

Initial creation of an AF_XDP socket requires CAP_NET_RAW capability. A
privileged process might create the socket and pass it to a non-privileged
process for later use. However, that process will be able to bind the socket
to any network interface. Even though it will not be able to receive any
traffic without modification of the BPF map, the situation is not ideal.

Sockets already have a mechanism that can be used to restrict what interface
they can be attached to. That is SO_BINDTODEVICE.

To change the SO_BINDTODEVICE binding the process will need CAP_NET_RAW.

Make xsk_bind() honor the SO_BINDTODEVICE in order to allow safer workflow
when non-privileged process is using AF_XDP.

The intended workflow is following:

  1. First process creates a bare socket with socket(AF_XDP, ...).
  2. First process loads the XSK program to the interface.
  3. First process adds the socket fd to a BPF map.
  4. First process ties socket fd to a particular interface using
     SO_BINDTODEVICE.
  5. First process sends socket fd to a second process.
  6. Second process allocates UMEM.
  7. Second process binds socket to the interface with bind(...).
  8. Second process sends/receives the traffic.

All the steps above are possible today if the first process is privileged
and the second one has sufficient RLIMIT_MEMLOCK and no capabilities.
However, the second process will be able to bind the socket to any interface
it wants on step 7 and send traffic from it. With the proposed change, the
second process will be able to bind the socket only to a specific interface
chosen by the first process at step 4.

6b1203ae83 Remove DECnet support from kernel
commit 1202cdd665315c525b5237e96e0bedc76d7e754f upstream.

DECnet is an obsolete network protocol that receives more attention
from kernel janitors than users. It belongs in computer protocol
history museum not in Linux kernel.

It has been "Orphaned" in kernel since 2010. The iproute2 support
for DECnet was dropped in 5.0 release. The documentation link on
Sourceforge says it is abandoned there as well.

Leave the UAPI alone to keep userspace programs compiling.
This means that there is still an empty neighbour table
for AF_DECNET.

The table of /proc/sys/net entries was updated to match
current directories and reformatted to be alphabetical.

c2b57a4d3f Documentation: fix sctp_wmem in ip-sysctl.rst
[ Upstream commit aa709da0e032cee7c202047ecd75f437bb0126ed ]

Since commit 1033990ac5 ("sctp: implement memory accounting on tx path"),
SCTP has supported memory accounting on tx path where 'sctp_wmem' is used
by sk_wmem_schedule(). So we should fix the description for this option in
ip-sysctl.rst accordingly.

v1->v2:
  - Improve the description as Marcelo suggested.

When 802.3ad bond mode is configured the ad_actor_system option is set to

17a763eab7 netfilter: ipvs: Fix reuse connection if RS weight is 0
[ Upstream commit c95c07836fa4c1767ed11d8eca0769c652760e32 ]

We are changing expire_nodest_conn to work even for reused connections when
conn_reuse_mode=0, just as what was done with commit dc7b3eb900 ("ipvs:
Fix reuse connection if real server is dead").

For controlled and persistent connections, the new connection will get the
needed real server depending on the rules in ip_vs_check_template().

Fixes: d752c36457 ("ipvs: allow rescheduling of new connections when port reuse is detected")

8df0ffe2f3 icmp: randomize the global rate limiter
[ Upstream commit b38e7819cae946e2edf869e604af1e65a5d241c5 ]

Keyu Man reported that the ICMP rate limiter could be used
by attackers to get useful signal. Details will be provided
in an upcoming academic publication.

Our solution is to add some noise, so that the attackers
no longer can get help from the predictable token bucket limiter.

dd3fd6dec3 netfilter: nf_flowtable: fix documentation
commit 78e06cf430934fc3768c342cbebdd1013dcd6fa7 upstream.

In the flowtable documentation there is a missing semicolon, the command
as is would give this error:

    nftables.conf:5:27-33: Error: syntax error, unexpected devices, expecting newline or semicolon
                    hook ingress priority 0 devices = { br0, pppoe-data };
                                            ^^^^^^^
    nftables.conf:4:12-13: Error: invalid hook (null)
            flowtable ft {
                      ^^

commit 8ac9d71d601374222a230804e419cd40c4492e1c upstream.

During development the define J1939_PGN_ADDRESS_REQUEST was renamed to

This patch fixes the name of the symbol.

Maciej Żenczykowski
05665fed98 BACKPORT: FROMLIST: net: introduce ip_local_unbindable_ports sysctl
and associated inet_is_local_unbindable_port() helper function:
use it to make explicitly binding to an unbindable port return
-EPERM 'Operation not permitted'.

Autobind doesn't honour this new sysctl since:
  (a) you can simply set both if that's the behaviour you desire
  (b) there could be a use for preventing explicit while allowing auto
  (c) it's faster in the relatively critical path of doing port selection
      during connect() to only check one bitmap instead of both

Various ports may have special use cases which are not suitable for
use by general userspace applications. Currently, ports specified in
ip_local_reserved_ports sysctl will not be returned only in case of
automatic port assignment, but nothing prevents you from explicitly
binding to them - even from an entirely unprivileged process.

In certain cases it is desirable to prevent the host from assigning the
ports even in case of explicit binds, even from superuser processes.

Example use cases might be:
 - a port being stolen by the nic for remote serial console, remote
   power management or some other sort of debugging functionality
   (crash collection, gdb, direct access to some other microcontroller
   on the nic or motherboard, remote management of the nic itself).
 - a transparent proxy where packets are being redirected: in case
   a socket matches this connection, packets from this application
   would be incorrectly sent to one of the endpoints.

Initially I wanted to solve this problem via the simple one line:

static inline bool inet_port_requires_bind_service(struct net *net, unsigned short port) {
-       return port < net->ipv4.sysctl_ip_prot_sock;
+       return port < net->ipv4.sysctl_ip_prot_sock || inet_is_local_reserved_port(net, port);
}

However, this doesn't work for two reasons:
  (a) it changes userspace visible behaviour of the existing local
      reserved ports sysctl, and there appears to be enough documentation
      on the internet talking about setting it to make this a bad idea
  (b) it doesn't prevent privileged apps from using these ports,
      CAP_BIND_SERVICE is relatively likely to be available to, for example,
      a recursive DNS server so it can listed on port 53, which also needs
      to do src port randomization for outgoing queries due to security
      reasons (and it thus does manual port binding).

If we *know* that certain ports are simply unusable, then it's better
nothing even gets the opportunity to try to use them. This way we at
least get a quick failure, instead of some sort of timeout (or possibly
even corruption of the data stream of the non-kernel based use case).

Test:
  vm:~# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_unbindable_ports

  vm:~# python -c 'import socket; s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET6, socket.SOCK_STREAM, 0); s.bind(("::", 3967))'
  vm:~# python -c 'import socket; s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET6, socket.SOCK_DGRAM, 0); s.bind(("::", 3967))'
  vm:~# echo 3967 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_unbindable_ports
  vm:~# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_unbindable_ports
  3967
  vm:~# python -c 'import socket; s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET6, socket.SOCK_STREAM, 0); s.bind(("::", 3967))'
  socket.error: (1, 'Operation not permitted')
  vm:~# python -c 'import socket; s = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET6, socket.SOCK_DGRAM, 0); s.bind(("::", 3967))'
  socket.error: (1, 'Operation not permitted')

Intel Wired LAN Driver Updates 2019-11-01

This series contains updates to e1000, igb, igc, ixgbe, i40e and driver
documentation.

Lyude Paul fixes an issue where a fatal read error occurs when the
device is unplugged from the machine. So change the read error into a
warn while the device is still present.

Manfred Rudigier found that the i350 device was not apart of the "Media
Auto Sense" feature, yet the device supports it. So add the missing
i350 device to the check and fix an issue where the media auto sense
would flip/flop when no cable was connected to the port causing spurious
kernel log messages.

I fixed an issue where the fix to resolve receive buffer starvation was
applied in more than one place in the driver, one being the incorrect
location in the i40e driver.

Wenwen Wang fixes a potential memory leak in e1000 where allocated
memory is not properly cleaned up in one of the error paths.

Jonathan Neuschäfer cleans up the driver documentation to be consistent
and remove the footnote reference, since the footnote no longer exists in
the documentation.

Igor Pylypiv cleans up a duplicate clearing of a bit, no need to clear
it twice.

v2: Fixed alignment issue in patch 3 of the series based on community
    feedback.

19f92a030c net: increase SOMAXCONN to 4096
SOMAXCONN is /proc/sys/net/core/somaxconn default value.

It has been defined as 128 more than 20 years ago.

Since it caps the listen() backlog values, the very small value has
caused numerous problems over the years, and many people had
to raise it on their hosts after beeing hit by problems.

Google has been using 1024 for at least 15 years, and we increased
this to 4096 after TCP listener rework has been completed, more than
4 years ago. We got no complain of this change breaking any
legacy application.

Many applications indeed setup a TCP listener with listen(fd, -1);
meaning they let the system select the backlog.

Raising SOMAXCONN lowers chance of the port being unavailable under
even small SYNFLOOD attack, and reduces possibilities of side channel
vulnerabilities.

   Maxim.

2) Addition of a wakeup flag for AF_XDP tx and fill rings so the
   application can wake up the kernel for rx/tx processing which
   avoids busy-spinning of the latter, useful when app and driver
   is located on the same core. Support for i40e, ixgbe and mlx5e,
   from Magnus and Maxim.

3) bpftool fixes for printf()-like functions so compiler can actually
   enforce checks, bpftool build system improvements for custom output
   directories, and addition of 'bpftool map freeze' command, from Quentin.

4) Support attaching/detaching XDP programs from 'bpftool net' command,
   from Daniel.

5) Automatic xskmap cleanup when AF_XDP socket is released, and several
   barrier/{read,write}_once fixes in AF_XDP code, from Björn.

6) Relicense of bpf_helpers.h/bpf_endian.h for future libbpf
   inclusion as well as libbpf versioning improvements, from Andrii.

7) Several new BPF kselftests for verifier precision tracking, from Alexei.

8) Several BPF kselftest fixes wrt endianess to run on s390x, from Ilya.

9) And more BPF kselftest improvements all over the place, from Stanislav.

10) Add simple BPF map op cache for nfp driver to batch dumps, from Jakub.

11) AF_XDP socket umem mapping improvements for 32bit archs, from Ivan.

12) Add BPF-to-BPF call and BTF line info support for s390x JIT, from Yauheni.

13) Small optimization in arm64 JIT to spare 1 insns for BPF_MOD, from Jerin.

14) Fix an error check in bpf_tcp_gen_syncookie() helper, from Petar.

15) Various minor fixes and cleanups, from Nathan, Masahiro, Masanari,
    Peter, Wei, Yue.

Merge tag 'linux-can-next-for-5.4-20190904' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mkl/linux-can-next

Marc Kleine-Budde says:

====================
pull-request: can-next 2019-09-04 j1939

this is a pull request for net-next/master consisting of 21 patches.

the first 12 patches are by me and target the CAN core infrastructure.
They clean up the names of variables , structs and struct members,
convert can_rx_register() to use max() instead of open coding it and
remove unneeded code from the can_pernet_exit() callback.

The next three patches are also by me and they introduce and make use of
the CAN midlayer private structure. It is used to hold protocol specific
per device data structures.

The next patch is by Oleksij Rempel, switches the
&net->can.rcvlists_lock from a spin_lock() to a spin_lock_bh(), so that
it can be used from NAPI (soft IRQ) context.

The next 4 patches are by Kurt Van Dijck, he first updates his email
address via mailmap and then extends sockaddr_can to include j1939
members.

The final patch is the collective effort of many entities (The j1939
authors: Oliver Hartkopp, Bastian Stender, Elenita Hinds, kbuild test
robot, Kurt Van Dijck, Maxime Jayat, Robin van der Gracht, Oleksij
Rempel, Marc Kleine-Budde). It adds support of SAE J1939 protocol to the
CAN networking stack.

SAE J1939 is the vehicle bus recommended practice used for communication
and diagnostics among vehicle components. Originating in the car and
heavy-duty truck industry in the United States, it is now widely used in
other parts of the world.

P.S.: This pull request doesn't invalidate my last pull request:
      "pull-request: can-next 2019-09-03".

The j1939 authors
9d71dd0c70 can: add support of SAE J1939 protocol
SAE J1939 is the vehicle bus recommended practice used for communication
and diagnostics among vehicle components. Originating in the car and
heavy-duty truck industry in the United States, it is now widely used in
other parts of the world.

J1939, ISO 11783 and NMEA 2000 all share the same high level protocol.
SAE J1939 can be considered the replacement for the older SAE J1708 and
SAE J1587 specifications.

e890acd5ff net/mlx5: Add devlink flow_steering_mode parameter
Add new parameter (flow_steering_mode) to control the flow steering
mode of the driver.
Two modes are supported:
1. DMFS - Device managed flow steering
2. SMFS - Software/Driver managed flow steering.

In the DMFS mode, the HW steering entities are created through the
FW. In the SMFS mode this entities are created though the driver
directly.

The driver will use the devlink steering mode only if the steering
domain supports it, for now SMFS will manages only the switchdev eswitch
steering domain.

User command examples:
- Set SMFS flow steering mode::

    $ devlink dev param set pci/0000:06:00.0 name flow_steering_mode value "smfs" cmode runtime

- Read device flow steering mode::

    $ devlink dev param show pci/0000:06:00.0 name flow_steering_mode
      pci/0000:06:00.0:
      name flow_steering_mode type driver-specific
      values:
         cmode runtime value smfs

The addition of unaligned chunks mode, the documentation needs to be
updated to indicate that the incoming addr to the fill ring will only be
masked if the user application is run in the aligned chunk mode. This patch
also adds a line to explicitly indicate that the incoming addr will not be
masked if running the user application in the unaligned chunk mode.
