5e5419734c add mm argument to pte/pmd/pud/pgd_free
(with Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>)

The pgd/pud/pmd/pte page table allocation functions get a mm_struct pointer as
first argument. The free functions do not get the mm_struct argument. This
is 1) asymmetrical and 2) to do mm related page table allocations the mm
argument is needed on the free function as well.

0868ff7a42 move frv docs one level up
My first guess for "fujitsu" was it might be related to the
fujitsu-laptop.c driver...

Move the frv directory one level up since frv is the name of the
architecture in the Linux kernel.

e21ea246bc mm: remove ptep_test_and_clear_dirty and ptep_clear_flush_dirty

45e98cdb6d page table handling cleanup
Kill pte_rdprotect(), pte_exprotect(), pte_mkread(), pte_mkexec(), pte_read(),
pte_exec(), and pte_user() except where arch-specific code is making use of
them.

0bb5e19d63 Clean up mostly unused IOSPACE macros
Most architectures defined three macros, MK_IOSPACE_PFN(), GET_IOSPACE()
and GET_PFN() in pgtable.h. However, the only callers of any of these
macros are in Sparc specific code, either in arch/sparc, arch/sparc64 or
drivers/sbus.

This patch removes the redundant macros from all architectures except
sparc and sparc64.

a93cb055a2 [PATCH] paravirt: remove set pte atomic
Now that ptep_establish has a definition in PAE i386 3-level paging code, the
only paging model which is insane enough to have multi-word hardware PTEs
which are not efficient to set atomically, we can remove the ghost of
set_pte_atomic from other architectures which falesly duplicated it, and
remove all knowledge of it from the generic pgtable code.

set_pte_atomic is now a private pte operator which is specific to i386

46a82b2d55 [PATCH] Standardize pxx_page macros
One of the changes necessary for shared page tables is to standardize the
pxx_page macros. pte_page and pmd_page have always returned the struct
page associated with their entry, while pte_page_kernel and pmd_page_kernel
have returned the kernel virtual address. pud_page and pgd_page, on the
other hand, return the kernel virtual address.

Shared page tables needs pud_page and pgd_page to return the actual page
structures. There are very few actual users of these functions, so it is
simple to standardize their usage.

Since this is basic cleanup, I am submitting these changes as a standalone
patch. Per Hugh Dickins' comments about it, I am also changing the
pxx_page_kernel macros to pxx_page_vaddr to clarify their meaning.

41be6aef38 [PATCH] frv: miscellaneous changes
Fix a number of miscellanous items:

 (1) Declare lock sections in the linker script.

 (2) Recurse in the correct manner in the arch makefile.

 (3) asm/bug.h requires asm/linkage.h to be included first. One C file puts
     asm/bug.h first.

 (4) Add an empty RTC header file to avoid missing header file errors.

 (5) sg_dma_address() should use the dma_address member of a scatter list.

 (6) Add trivial pci_unmap support.

 (7) Add pgprot_noncached()

 (8) Discard u_quad_t.

 (9) Use ~0UL rather than ULONG_MAX in unistd.h in case the latter isn't
     declared.

(10) Add an empty VGA header file to avoid missing header file errors.

(11) Add an XOR header file to use the generic XOR stuff.

1426d7a81d [PATCH] vm: remove unused/broken page_pte[_prot] macros
This patch removes page_pte_prot and page_pte macros from all
architectures. Some architectures define both, some only page_pte (broken)
and others none. These macros are not used anywhere.

page_pte_prot(page, prot) is identical to mk_pte(page, prot) and
page_pte(page) is identical to page_pte_prot(page, __pgprot(0)).

* The following architectures define both page_pte_prot and page_pte

  arm, arm26, ia64, sh64, sparc, sparc64

* The following architectures define only page_pte (broken)

  frv, i386, m32r, mips, sh, x86-64

* All other architectures define neither

e49332bd12 [PATCH] misc verify_area cleanups
There were still a few comments left refering to verify_area, and two
functions, verify_area_skas & verify_area_tt that just wrap corresponding
access_ok_skas & access_ok_tt functions, just like verify_area does for
access_ok - deprecate those.

There was also a few places that still used verify_area in commented-out
code, fix those up to use access_ok.

After applying this one there should not be anything left but finally
removing verify_area completely, which will happen after a kernel release
or two.

1da177e4c3 Linux-2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.

Let it rip!
