3df0af0eb0 [PATCH] x86_64: clear_bss before set_intr_gate with early_idt_handler
idt_table is in the .bss section, so clear_bss need to called at first

43c85c9c5d [PATCH] Remove need for early lockdep init
I think it was only needed for the printks and we can do them later.

I put in a single early_printk so that we know the kernel is alive
(early_printk doesn't need any locks)

This makes some things easier for initialization of unwind for
lockdep, which is needed by later patches.

2c8c0e6b8d [PATCH] Convert x86-64 to early param
Instead of hackish manual parsing

Requires earlier i386 patchkit, but also fixes i386 early_printk again.

I removed some obsolete really early parameters which didn't do anything useful.
Also made a few parameters that needed it early (mostly oops printing setup)

Also removed one panic check that wasn't visible without
early console anyways (the early console is now initialized after that
panic)

This cleans up a lot of code.

9ca33eb698 [PATCH] Use early CPU identify before early command line parsing
This makes it possible to modify CPU flags in command line
options without hacks.

And remove another copy in head64.c

7f11d8a5ef [PATCH] Remove all ifdefs for local/io apic
IO-APIC or local APIC can only be disabled at runtime anyways and
Kconfig has forced these options on for a long time now.

The Kconfigs are kept only now for the benefit of the shared acpi
boot.c code.

2148270cd2 [PATCH] lockdep: x86_64 early init
x86_64 uses spinlocks very early - earlier than start_kernel(). So call
lockdep_init() from the arch setup code.

5c0f80fab3 [PATCH] x86_64: Remove long obsolete CVS
Early development of x86-64 Linux was in CVS, but that hasn't been
the case for a long time now. Remove the obsolete $Id$s.

365ba9179f [PATCH] x86_64: Allocate PDAs in the local node
Patch uses a static PDA array early at boot and reallocates processor PDA
with node local memory when kmalloc is ready, just before pda_init.
The boot_cpu_pda is needed since the cpu_pda is used even before pda_init for
that cpu is called (to set the static per-cpu areas offset table etc)

2bc0414ee0 [PATCH] x86_64: Only use asm/sections.h to declare section symbols

Replaces a lot of open coded externs in arch/x86_64/*
I had to change __bss_end to __bss_stop to match the other architectures.

f6c2e3330d [PATCH] x86_64: Unmap NULL during early bootup
We should zap the low mappings, as soon as possible, so that we can catch
kernel bugs more effectively. Previously early boot had NULL mapped
and didn't trap on NULL references.

This patch introduces boot_level4_pgt, which will always have low identity
addresses mapped. Druing boot, all the processors will use this as their
level4 pgt. On BP, we will switch to init_level4_pgt as soon as we enter C
code and zap the low mappings as soon as we are done with the usage of
identity low mapped addresses. On AP's we will zap the low mappings as
soon as we jump to C code.

2b97690f4c [PATCH] reorganize x86-64 NUMA and DISCONTIGMEM config options
In order to use the alternative sparsemem implmentation for NUMA kernels,
we need to reorganize the config options. This patch effectively abstracts
out the CONFIG_DISCONTIGMEM options to CONFIG_NUMA in most cases. Thus,
the discontigmem implementation may be employed as always, but the
sparsemem implementation may be used alternatively.

f9ba70535d [PATCH] Increase number of e820 entries hard limit from 32 to 128
The specifications that talk about E820 map doesn't have an upper limit on
the number of e820 entries. But, today's kernel has a hard limit of 32.
With increase in memory size, we are seeing the number of E820 entries
reaching close to 32. Patch below bumps the number upto 128.

The patch changes the location of EDDBUF in zero-page (as it comes after E820).
As, EDDBUF is not used by boot loaders, this patch should not have any effect
on bootloader-setup code interface.

Patch covers both i386 and x86-64.

Tested on:
* grub booting bzImage
* lilo booting bzImage with EDID info enabled
* pxeboot of bzImage

Side-effect:
bss increases by ~ 2K and init.data increases by ~7.5K
on all systems, due to increase in size of static arrays.

1da177e4c3 Linux-2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.

Let it rip!
