John T Nogatch 04df6c5aa1 If paInDevice was not a saved setting, use Pa_GetDefaultInputDevice(). 
If paOutDevice was not a saved setting, use Pa_GetDefaultOutputDevice().

This allows wsjtx to startup with default audio on a new install.

However, it does not set the menu index numbers, so the Config SoundIn/Out
menus do not look correct, until they have been set and saved once.

It would be better if only the device names were saved in settings,
because the index numbers can change, especially if USB soundcards
are added or removed.

Joe Taylor a170d9df1f 1. Correct the listings of Audio In and Audio Out devices, on unix-like 
platforms.
2. This might be temporary: set Audio output on unix platforms to stereo,
i.e., channels=2.  On my Ubuntu system, at least, this makes it play
correctly on all of the relevant audio devices in the list, including
hardware and virtual (".asoundrc-implemented") devices.

Joe Taylor 67a99ccbc4 Working toward compiling WSJT-X under Qt5. It doesn't work, yet. 
The present code is still OK in Qt 4.x.  For Qt5, must replace 
#include <QtGui> by #include <QtWidgets> in several places, and 
uncomment these lines

//#include <QtConcurrent/QtConcurrentMap>
//#include <QtConcurrent/QtConcurrentRun>

in mainwindow.cpp.  More work still to do, for Qt5!

Joe Taylor 623c560e12 Red/Orange indicator between "Band" spinner and Dial Frequency readout 
is now a button.  It is enabled only when Orange, which means CAT
control is essentially Program to Radio only.  Clicking the button
causes a one-time read of the radio's dial frequency.

Joe Taylor c9e20f6f9d This is test code!! 
I have changed the declarations of the Rig class functions we use:

open()
setConf()
getFreq()
setFreq()
setPTT()
close()

... so that each one returns the (negative) error code returned by 
hamlib.  These functions no longer throw exceptions.

Initial tests seem to show things working well.  I have found one
condition that causes a crash.  The rig is initially opened and is
running OK (in this case, with the Polling interval set to 1 s).  Then
the radio is turned off.  The next call to getFreq() never returns.

Probably we need to set a timeout limit?

The code is kinda on the quick-and-dirty side.  Improvements will be 
welcom!

Joe Taylor cd15a5e4d6 1. Click on spectrum sets Rx freq; double-click also invokes narrow-band 
decoder at the new frequency.  CTRL-click (or CTRL-double-click) sets both 
Rx and Tx freqs.
2. Amplitude at end of transmission is ramped down to prevent a "key click".

Joe Taylor 56d49f985f Offer two sets of controls for entering and selecting Tx messages: 
1. The "WSJT Traditional" setof six line-edit fields, radio buttons,
and Tx# buttons;

2. New configuration with buttons that generate each message for the
standard minimum QSO, one at a time.

Joe Taylor 4544824f30 Another adjustment to the trade-off between decoding time and sensitivity. 
If CTRL is held down when double-clicking on a decode, the QSO freq (
both Rx and Tx) will be reset even if the first decoded callsign is MyCall.
